Oh my!
Marianne
How big do you roll out the dough?
Lyndsay
I rolled it out aprox. 10 to 12 inches 6 inches. It can be any size though, just enough to cover it with the pie filling.
Marilyn
Used blueberries and vanilla extract instead of apples and cinnamon. They were fabulous!!
Stephanie
What do you recommend using in liu of milk for those of us are dairy free? Almond milk? Coconut milk? Or something else?
Diane
These may sound dumb but I have a couple of questions:
1. Do you put the filling on only half the rectangle and then fold it over.
2. Do you cut through the dough on top only or all over.
Thanks for clarifying.
officiallyglutenfree
I put the filling on the whole rectangle then folded it over and then cut through the dough all over.

Just curious about a binding agent. Does the dough stick together without xantham or guar gum?
officially gluten free
Yes, the starch helps bind it. But you could definitely add a little xantham or guar gum if you prefer to use it.

Can I use a general purpose gluten free flour?
officially gluten free
Yes you can.
Shannon CM
I’d like to use King Arthur Measure for Measure GF flour.
Do I still need to add the cornstarch?
officially gluten free
No you shouldn’t need to
Emily
Thank you for this recipe! I used the dough you suggested in my own lemon/berry version and they were a serious hit at my sister’s baby shower. Thank you!!
officially gluten free
You’re very welcome Emily! I’m glad they were a hit. Lemon and Blueberry sounds Delicious too ?
Jean
I made this but the dough turned out too loose. It just fell apart. I couldn’t fold the dough. I have a milk allergy so I substituted almond milk with vinegar for the buttermilk. Would that effect it that much?
Harley
These were so delicious!!! I was so excited to come across this recipe! Such a great and different breakfast option! Thanks for sharing!

You’re welcome! I’m glad you liked them 🙂

This looks delish and can’t wait to make it! When you cut the dough and divide into 8 and then make into balls how exactly do you do that? Maybe this is a silly question but I’m a little confused on it! Do you cut the dough into 8 sections? And how do you make into balls?
officially gluten free
Hi Lana, I cut the dough into 8 sections then made each section into a ball using my hands or a spatula. They were pretty messy but as long as they made a somewhat round shape they should work fine. Hope that helps.

Could I use GF bisquick

This is going to be the PERFECT breakfast treat to surprise my GF husband with for his birthday this week!!
Natalie
Today we made the apple fritters to celebrate my late husband and my sons father. Apple fritters were his favourite but we are gluten-free and haven’t been able to do our usual celebration (eat his favourites, watch his fave movie, listen to his CD’s). You made our day extra memorable! 💕. Also……These were sooo easy to make! Soo delicous! Thanks for the recipe!

You’re welcome Natalie. I’m so glad you liked them and I’m very sorry to hear about your husband. I hope you and your son enjoy the rest of your day ❤️

Ummm brown rice flour or white? Im assuming white but just checking.
officially gluten free
I use white but either would work.
Diana
I made these for a party for the first time and they were a hit. The only substitution I made was coconut brown sugar in lieu of white sugar and doubled the batch. I used tapioca starch instead of corn starch and the rice flour was a bitl of a challenge to find at two of my “regular” markets but I was successful in finding it a Whole Foods. They were fantastic!
Lillian
I am new to gluten free baking and haven’t had much success until this recipe. Though the dough was more wet than I had anticipated, he finished product came out fantastic 😋
Jan
Can I use regular ap flour in this recipie
officially gluten free
Yes, you can.
Justin Davis
I made these with Aldi brand GF biscuit/pancake mix. Followed their directions but added the cinnamon and sugar. The dough was really loose but turned out great. Mine made 12 biscuits instead of 8. 15 minutes was perfect amount of time.
Suzanne
This looks so good! Do you use this dough for any other recipes?
Vanessa
Thanks for sharing! Does it keep long?
Tracy
Thanks for the recipe! I’ve been craving fall baking and, in addition to my family following a gluten free diet, my son con’t have eggs, so I thought I’d give this recipe a try. A lot of GF recipes that i’ve tried that are also egg free often fall short for our family because they don’t bake through properly, so I must say this recipe definitely wins in that department. There was nothing gooey or gummy about the finished product, so I was really happy with that. The flavour is also really nice. My only let down was that these didn’t really feel like a fritter. They definately made a nice treat, but are much more like a sweet biscuit than a fritter.
For those that read the reviews looking for what worked and what didn’t, here’s a quick description of the variations that I used: tapioca instead of corn starch, coconut sugar instead of white sugar, Earth Balance instead of butter, and almond milk mixed with vinegar instead of buttermilk.
Chris
Can you substitute almond flour for the rice flour? If so, do I still need to use the corn starch? Thank you!
officially gluten free
Yes you can substitute almond flour for the rice flour. I would still use the corn starch but I’m sure it would work without if you don’t want to use it.
